Would a nurse practitioner working at Mass General Hospital make enough to live in Devonshire Apartments?

Question by Robin Sparkles: Would a nurse practitioner working at Mass General Hospital make enough to live in Devonshire Apartments?
I got a job as a nurse practitioner at Mass Gen and I am looking for apartments. Is Devonshire way overpriced? It seems really luxurious.. would i be able to afford this? it’d be one bedroom or I’d have a roomate with a two bedroom. I wouldn’t get anything unecessary… but I want to live in the city and have a nice view of the city.

Is a REGISTERED NURSING education all that challenging or just general college fare?

Question by Hairy: Is a REGISTERED NURSING education all that challenging or just general college fare?

Are you speaking of monetary values when you say general college fare? A degree in nursing is very challenging, we started with 65 students and the graduating class was 27, so it takes hard work and dedication, mentally and physically, it is not for the faint of heart. Do not kid your self, the rewards are many, besides a pretty good paycheck, you can get a job anywhere you go, and it is emotionally rewarding too, and can be emotionally devastating at times. Do not go into it unless you are serious and cam give up a lot of a social life for a couple of yrs.

Why would the college tell me I have to enroll in general studies when I want to go for nursing?

Question by Cassandra V: Why would the college tell me I have to enroll in general studies when I want to go for nursing?
Is it their process to make you switch after general courses? I am only going for a 1 year program to start with so I am confused about it. Thanks :)

You probably did not qualify to go straight into the nursing program and therefore you have to go through general studies first (I know several of the colleges at my university do that). The only way to really know why your college is doing that is to call them and ask.

First off, you will need to find out whether your credits at U.S. base school will transfer to Canadian college, if you haven’t done so already. Your school should be able to tell you what classes you need to be taking for your first two years of Nursing school. Talk to your academic adviser @ your school.
