Question by Sammi Raven: How old do you have to be to be a nurse’s aide in a nursing home?
I was just wondering about this because I’m thinking about getting a job as a nurse’s aide. Given, I’m old enough. I’m seventeen years old.
So if anyone knows, please leave an answer. Thanks. (:

A lot are restricting to 18 and older because of the lifts that you cannot use until you are 18 but there are still some that can do any age. It depends on the agency.

Question by jujubeeeees: What are jobs a teen can do at a nursing home?
I know of another teen who works at the nursing home as a dietary aid (cleaning dishes, etc) but what else? Cleaning, changing diapers, stocking supplies? And how do I go about getting a job there? Do I just show up and say I want a job there?
I am 15, by the way…16 in less than 3 months

Yes you can go there and say that you’re willing ot assist in the nursing home. I am not sure what they would be able to get you since there are some thing that you cannot do at your age.

Question by Constantly Curious: Would working at a nursing home as a housekeeper help prepare me for a job as a nurse after high school?

Absolutely! Any job in a healthcare environment will be helpful in preparation to be a nurse or any career in the healthcare field.
Being a housekeeper will provide you with a ‘behind the scenes’ look at the healthcare environment. Also, when you become a nurse, you will have a much deeper appreciation for the hard work that the housekeepers do!
Yes, you will be able to make a patient’s day brighter. I work at a hospital and know that housekeepers have an incredibly important job. A cheery hello while cleaning a room can have a big impact on a patient. Also…statistics show that patients will frequently open up and share information with housekeepers that they might not share with other members of the healthcare staff – like an abusive home situation. So, you see… ALL members of the team are important.

Question by Sandielynn: What other jobs can an LPN do besides working in a nursing home?
This is the only experience I have as a nurse, but I really want to do something else.
Best answer:
Answer by uncertain/what2do
LPNs are employed in a variety of other environments outside of long term care facilities. As an LPN I first worked in pediatric home health, which was fun but the pay in home health tends to be less that in nursing homes, at least where I lived. Another option that is often better paying is corrections, jails and prisons hire LPNs to triage immate medical complaints, administer medication and insulin, respond to emergencies, assist practitioners, administer and read TB skin tests, etc. Drug rehab facilities, assisted living, doctors offices, clinics, urgent care, and some health departments, hospitals, and schools hire LPNs as well.

Question by moniquernc: Stay at home job for a registered nurse?
I have a eight month old daughter and recently relocated to Atlanta, I have been home with her for the past three months and I longer want to go back to work. I am a registered nurse who has worked in a special care nursery for the last ten years. I am looking for a stay at home job where I can use my nursing degree.

Check with attorneys or insurance companies in your area. My sister-in-law just adopted a baby, she had to quit her job. As an RN, she didn’t think she could really do anything for a while. However, an attorney in the adoption proceedings asked her audit documents that have medical terminology as he has no clue if they are right, wrong, etc. She of course is thrilled…she can do it in her spare time and it is a solution.
Good luck.

Question by pippi77: I am 32 and have been through a number of jobs and I am a nurse. I cant seem to leave my home life at home.?
Best answer:
Answer by Linda
I remember the days when my babies were infants and my husband would be home on his day off caring for them while I worked per diem as a nurse. I am now 41 going to be 42 and my youngest of 4 is 6 years old. I found it helpful to get everything ready the day before. Extra clothes and I wrote a list of things that I would of liked done for the children. I would call once in the morning, then after lunch and before I left to see how everything was going. I always felt secure in having my husband take cae of things while I was working for the day so I really didn’t worry about what was going on at home. If you have someone close to you that you can trust take care of your home life while you are at work I think it will help.
Good luck!

Question by Steve: Are there any hospital administrator or nursing home admin. jobs? 10 points to the best answer?
I want to eventually become a hospital administrator. Right now I am picking my major and want to major in Health Care Administration, but don’t know where I would find a job (especially in Oklahoma) right now. I have done some hunting on the internet but can’t seem to find an entry level position as a nursing home administrator. So should I pick another major is there a way to find a job in this field?
Best answer:
Answer by prettyeyez0724
No!!! Dont change your major just happens I am majoring in the same field. Regardless, of the region you live in their are hospitals and clinics everywhere. I am assuming that you already have your graduate degree in Public Health ot Health services administration in which that is required for most decent salary jobs here in florida. Perhaps that may be the reason you are having diffculties. Sorry I just reread that you are still in college. Best thing I can think of is just trying to hired at an hospital as perhaps and health unit coordinator or something of that nature.
