No, private college isn’t really worth it ever, especially in a field like nursing. Don’t go into debt just to go to a slightly better school.

Question by Eric.: For all nursing majors: Could you transfer from a private to a public college?
I’m currently attending APU (Azusa Pacific University) as a freshmen and trying to get into the nursing program next spring. However I feel like this is not the school that I would feel most comfortable at and was thinking about transferring to another nursing program maybe at (UCI, UCLA). I know I probably should go talk to my schools office but I was just curious and wanted to know right now. So is this possible or not since my school and the UC’s are way different?
Best answer:
Answer by Ms. Sun
Nursing programs are exceptionally competitive at the UCs.
UCLA – Nursing – Generic/Prelicensure. Transfer admit rate is approximately 11.5% (Fall 2009). There is a ranked waiting list for the nursing applicants who are not initially accepted. Alternate major is NOT considered.
Irvine – Nursing Science. Transfer admit rate is approximately 5.6% (Fall 2008). There is NO waiting list for the nursing applicants who are denied admission. Alternate major is considered if the student qualified for UCI admission but was not accepted for nursing.
