Where are my job options as a newly qualified UK nurse?? Am I left with working abroad? Where will take me?

Question by fairyonthegrass: Where are my job options as a newly qualified UK nurse?? Am I left with working abroad? Where will take me?
I am a general nursing student in my third year due to qualify in september 2007. I am stuck for what to do? My hometown of sheffield is apparently a blackspot for nursing jobs so i’m highly unlikely to get a job here. I’ve looked elsewhere but I am considering now working abroad. How would i go about working in places like austrailia, NZ, saudi, dubai, america? Do these places take on newly qualifieds with no post grad experience?? Please help i’m at such a loss of what to do…

Not likely. Standards and practices are sufficiently different that your Philippine qualifications won’t quite allow you to take any Canadian exams. You would need to check with the nursing association of whatever province applies to you.

Canada has about 1 and a half million (yes, that’s 1,500,000) unemployed citizens some of whom are nurses. What few jobs there may be won’t go to foreigners but to one of our own people so you’re up against a lot of other Canadian nurses.

US qualified nurse – Jobs in UK?

Question by Mbadiwe: US qualified nurse – Jobs in UK?
My wife is in the final semester of her nursing degree in the USA and will be coming over to the UK once she completes her studies.

Questions are
– what are her opportunities in the UK and
– where should we begin with regards to Job hunting

She is also a talented dialysis technician with 2 years practical experience in the US
Please note that the focus is on what opportunities exist in the UK for a US qualified nurse.

It’s always good to start out by sending her CV to a dozen of various diff hospitals in uk.
After you get accepted , then you can take care of the visa and then fly there.
