The issue of course is what ‘the best’ means. Rankings are rarely made by educators, and are often used to sell magazines. If I wanted to rank any schools (I am in education) I would look at experiences and outcomes. Outcomes are easy, how many students pass the exam. What are the average scores on this exam for students. That stuff should be available on their web sites. Another good source is the accrediting agencies NLNAC and CCNE are good starting points.

As to the experiences, what happens in classes and what happens out of class – so academics and campus atmosphere. Those are hard to rank, but if the campus has a NSSE report, find it and look it over as it will tell you what the students think about their campus.

Question by Micol B: Union County College’s Trinitas School of Nursing?
So I recently decided that I wanted to change my major to nursing. I already decided on going to Union County College this coming summer or maybe fall…I made that decision before I decided to change my major. Someone told me that their nursing program is really good. She was even willing to travel all the way from Queens, NY to go to that school. I just want some other opinions.

Congratulate him on choosing a commendable career with lots of options and great pay!!

I’m not sure if you are trying to imply something about sexuality and being a male nurse, but I know tons of male nurses and they are all very secure with their manhood.

College Questions (Nursing)?

Question by Jenna: College Questions (Nursing)?
I’m 18, and just graduated from high-school. I am considering going to college to be a Nurse, but, I need to research it before I make any decisions. I was hoping someone could show me websites from different colleges around Alton, Illinois that provide a good Nursing course. Also, if there are any Nurses out there that could tell me what classes it required and how difficult it was for them, that would be appreciated also.
Figuring out what you’re gonna do with your life is SO extremely stressful , and I think that any help would somewhat ease the ‘pain’. lol
Thanks in advance.

You probably need to complete some prerequisites at the community college level before entering an RN program. Some students complete an LVN program first.

Nursing is a college major. You can get a 2-year degree in nursing or a 4-year degree in nursing; either lets you become an RN. You might need some prerequisite classes, but you don’t need to earn a degree before a nursing degree.
