Question by bostonboy16: I picked “Nursing” as my college major, but want to become a dotor. (READ BELOW)
I did this so in case I do not become a physician, I can still fall back on my nursing degree.
Was this a good idea?

yes.
a doctor, is VERY ambitious. Its years upon years of straight A’s
you should consider the nursing major actually because they make money, and there is a need for nurses currently so you will be hired somewhat quickly, and you don’t have to go through all the stressful years of doctor schooling

You can also become a nurse practitioner (masters degree) or a physician’s assistant (also masters), which will allow you to be “nearly a doctor.” These two professions are more important with doctor shortages, and you go to school for less time. Consider it, and that way you can get your RN license, work 1-2 years and then go for your masters (often on-line).
Ahh yes you want to be a Doctor…Perhaps you don’t want to live your own life ehh??
That is a good idea. Nursing is a wonderful profession. And you can move up in the ranks, go to a nurse practitioner, nurse anesthetist or even a doctorate’s in nursing. The only problem I see with still trying to do medicine is that..make sure you have your pre-reqs for medical school done because I know nursing is 4yr which includes 2yr of classroom and 2 yrs of clinical work. And you have to take you MCATs as well but in the event that you don’t get in then you can get your masters in nursing while still working as a nurse and making good money. Good Luck!
